2005/2006 New Year Eve Celebrations

What a way to start the Year for 2006. This year we squeeze like siao near the Esplanade region to get a view on the spectacular fireworks. The crowd was crazy, must be something like 10-50k ppl (hard to count, lots of ppl in dark spots). This year the water bay was packed with floating luminous balls that changes colours with the different lights shone from the bridge.

Before the fireworks started firing, there was an accidental release of a ballon. The crowd went crazy and started screaming at the balloon. Everyone was fired up, the atmosphere was ecstatic and really hot (every1 was sweating). Then all hell broke lose, the entire sky became lited with a whole spectrum of colours. A bunch of twits next to us, started spraying the foaming at us, with our camera men sustaining heavy damage, but we survived. The fire works blasted for nearly 10 mins, with comments like "omg Iraqi artillery" and "Incoming ......" . And a gal commented next to me " Hmmm i think the fireworks uses nuclear fusion technology".


After the amazing display of pyrotechniques, we observe our traditional culture and went for our Food tour, just a mini supper. (shag liao, after squeezing in the crowd and dodging crazy foam sprayers, too exhausted to go on a complete food tour. in addition our usual transport vehicle was unavailable due to unforseen cirumstances).

We went over to Lao pa sa for the mini supper. On the way, we encountered a bunch of insane aunties dancing in a beer bar singing oldies, hehe. Luckily from our angle we can only observe their backs from the opening backstage, we still want to live through the next year.

We had some satay and chai tao gui. And we met Zhilun's gf for the first time (for some of us, i noe BoOn see her b4 ) . As usual crap and crap till we cannot tahan.

The trip back was horrendous. The taxis were packed. The night rider buses were no where to be seen. (i think we crap too much and forget the time). But it was still nice to celebrate the new year together.
